Plants not only beautify your surroundings, they also
remove toxins from the air.

Indoor plants bring "nature" indoors, to reduce stress and increase morale.  Plants even clean the air of many common indoor pollutants.

NASA studies have shown that plants remove most indoor toxins from the air.  Pollution indoors can be 20-100 times the level found outdoors. Using a variety of plants can combat indoor pollution economically and efficiently. The worst culprits of indoor toxins are new carpets, furniture, and paint.

Many common houseplants make great indoor air cleaners.

"How to Grow Fresh Air," former NASA scientist Bill Wolverton identifies the top 50 plants for cleaning air.

He rates them on four categories:

1. How easy they grow
2. How well they remove chemical vapors
3. Their transpiration rate
4. How resistant they are to pests.

Here are a few plants from his top 50 list.
