MARK FAST SPRING/SUMMER 2020 SHOW
THE LOOK: PARTY IN THE JUNGLE
A tribute to the beauty, colours and a creation lost in the recent devastating fires and the hope the Amazon Rainforest will live on.
“It’s 6am on the first morning of London Fashion Week, outside on the pavement, demonstrators are shouting about the damage fashion is causing the environment and standing on the side-lines, are as many police as fashionistas.” Maria Kovacs
With some irony, Mark Fast’s SS20 show was inspired by his love of National Geographical Magazine and his interest in geography and nature. His “Party in the Jungle” collection was taken from imagery of the Amazon Rain Forest, the bright colours of flora and fauna, mixed with the neon lights, tribal graffiti and animalistic characters who would attend his jungle rave.
The muses for this concept were Chloe Sevigny and Madonna, circa 1990, when they wore casual separates, masculine tailoring and of course, risqué showstopping pieces – that lie within Mark’s DNA. Classic knits have been reworked in electric neon pink, green and yellow, and embracing a true London grunge approach he mixes streetwear with luxury. With an exciting new ready-to-wear and accessory collection, it is a collection full of positive energy.

“I always love to hear Mark’s inspiration for the look as it helps us to create the perfect collaboration. This season he referenced the Amazon. He wanted the girls and guys to have a look, which would represent a wild neon party in the jungle. We created a couple of different looks to mimic the different animals from the jungle, our favourite one was a long braid similar to a long snake, that we tied with neon material.”

Snake Braid – GET THE LOOK
Step 1: To prep, blow dry hair straight with TIGI Bed Head Superstar Queen For A Day. This helps create a clean hairline.
Step 2: To create a high ponytail, lift hair upwards and backwards to the crown point, pulling the hair from the cheekbones. Spritz with TIGI Copyright Volume Finishing Spray to secure hair in place and tie hair with an elastic tie into a tight high ponytail.
Step 3: Using a toothbrush, brush the hair in an upward motion from the cheekbones towards the elastic tie. This tames flyaways and ensures the hair is clean. Finish with TIGI Copyright Maximum Hold Hairspray
Step 4: Spritz the ponytail with TIGI Bed Head Headrush and braid into a bun to hide the natural hair.
Step 5: Using a long hair piece, spray liberally with TIGI Bed Head Headrush to calm the hair. Next, braid into a tight neat plait.
Step 6: Attach the plaited hair piece onto the natural bun and add neon material to hide the natural hair. This gives height to the plaited hair piece on top of the natural hair bun.
Step 7: Finish the look by adding shine to the hair with TIGI Bed Head Headrush.
Step 8: To finish, pull the long plaited hair piece forwards so it can be seen from the front.
